The week of September 23 – 30 is designated~“Safety Awareness Week” at~SFX and across the YCDSB.
The St. Francis Xavier staff and students will be focused on emergency school procedures and the steps to take in the event of the following emergencies:
- Fire Evacuation (Drill to be conducted on September 23rd and 27th)
- Severe Weather Emergency (Drill to be conducted on September 28th)
- Lockdown~(Stranger danger in our building) (Drill to be conducted on September 30th)
- Hold and Secure (Danger in the Area) (Drill to be conducted on September 29th)
The children will perform the emergency protocols for each situation.~ Practice and preparation is a proactive approach to safety which will assist us in the event of a “real” emergency situation.~ The protocols were shared with parents at our first Catholic School Council meeting (date to be determined).~ If you have questions, please contact the school.
Bus Safety Education
On September 12th our students received instruction in Bus Safety, in the form of video and hands-on activities.~ Students learned how to safely board and exit a bus in both normal and emergency conditions.
